This week I have the Klairs Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel to share with you today!
I am a very big fan of the brand Klairs, especially their Supple Preparation Facial Toner which I use religiously as well as the Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop but that was before my skin became super sensitive to it haha.

About the brand
Klairs has been in the market since 2010 and are known for not using harsh ingredients, no animal testing and producing high quality products at reasonable prices.
Designed for sensitive skin, it contains simple and key ingredients that are best for sensitive skin to heal and become healthier. This is why when you see their formulas, they are mostly colourless and have little to no scent at all because they avoid artificial fragrances, colorants, alcohols and parabens in their products.
Fundamental Line
The Fundamental Line from Klairs focuses on hydration that would lead to naturally healthy skin. It is designed to restore moisture from deep within the skin and create a healthy complexion. It claims to suit all skin types and is a mild skin care line that anyone needing moisture can use. Focusing on this “fundamental” aspect for the skin, they want to help right from the basics of skincare, the ‘Klairs’ way.
There are 5 products in this line, all ranging from a toner to a moisturiser. So if you and your skin enjoy using this line, your whole skin care routine is covered with these products. But you can totally pick and choose one or two products to incorporate into your usual skin care routine as well.
There are 3 points to note from this line and that’s one:
- They have created this line of products to not be used in a fixed order but to be able to let users pick and choose products and incorporate it into their own skincare routine instead.
- The texture of these products are more of the watery/gel types of products than your typical thick creams.
- These products can be used for all skin types, seasons, also day and night. It claims to be used for anyone who needs to add moisture to their skin.
Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel
Coming in a 35ml pump tube, this gel moisturiser also contains caffeine and red bean extract to help with awakening the eye area. It also claims to improve with dark circles, skin tone and de-puffing the under eye area. When applied, it feels cool to the touch and the hydrating sensation helps provide a refreshing finish.
How to use it
I would squeeze a pump of eye cream onto my ring finger and then split it between both eyes starting from my under eye area and then with light movements move my finger away towards the outer corner of my eye. After it has been absorbed, I would then follow up with the rest of my skincare.
First Impressions
Eye creams can be a bit tricky for me. The last eye cream I used didn’t suit my now sensitive skin which really upset me because it was quite expensive as well haha. Nevertheless, after my skin turned super sensitive I stopped using eye creams all together until I started reintroducing it again with this one from Klairs.
Using it the first time, I could feel how moisturising it felt on my hand and under my eyes which is a good sign for any eye cream. This is because skin under our eyes are thin. Without proper hydration and care it is susceptible to aging and is often the first place to show signs of it.
One pump is usually enough for both eyes and it leaves a slightly cooling sensation after application. It does feel moist but doesn’t leave a sticky feeling afterwards, and it easily absorbs into the skin which is good if you follow a skin care routine.
Thoughts after a few weeks
Using it after a few weeks, I did feel that my eye area had hydrated significantly and that it looked more awake when I used it. In terms of helping with my dark circles, I didn’t see any significant changes compared to when I didn’t use it so that was unfortunate. It did leave a nice cooling sensation on my skin which I really enjoyed. It would also be an ideal product to have in your skin care routine for the Summer months or if you live in warmer climates.
Final Thoughts
I’d personally buy an eye cream that helps with wrinkle prevention etc so in a sense it wouldn’t be ideal for me. However, during the Summer months and I wanted a more lighter eye cream it would be a great addition to my skincare routine, where the temperature is warmer and it’d be a nice hydrating eye cream that leaves a cooling sensation afterwards.
